The Theory

Communication Theory of Identity explains how communication shapes an individual's identiy using four frames through which individuals view themselves in relation to how they interact with others.

Internally, how you see yourself. How you define yourself, self cognition.

Enacted Frame

How you communicate your identity to others. Example: by how you dress, what brands you wear, how you walk, etc.

The ways in which your identity emerges between you and others. Example: family relations, friendships
