Persphone was Demeters only child One day while picking flowers Hades king of the underworld kidnapped her. Do to all the sadness her mother felt she turned the land bad and snowey. There was a deal that if Persphone hadnt ate anything from the underworld she would be realesed from the underworld but she ate 6 pomegranate seeds so she has to stay in the underworld 6 months every year. this is why we have seasons. When she is in, Demeter greives and makes its snow and no harvesting.

Demeter was the Greek goddess of grain, the harvest, and possibly the grape and hence wine. She is why we have seasons and harvest where we get corn from our fields and soy and other Vegitables and fruits
