IMMIGRATION

DACA

The start

" What makes someone American isn't just blood or birth but allegiance to our founding principles and faith in the idea that anyone -from anywhere- can write the next chapter of our story"

DACA

Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals

  • An American immigration policy that allows some individuals who were brought to the United States illegally as children to receive a renewable two-year period of deferred action from deportation and become eligible for a work permit in the U.S.

AT A GLANCE

Affects

Former President Barack Obama signed a 2012 executive that gave DACA students opportunities to be the leaders of this country. They were also given the opportunity in making a change.

But then, Donald Trump ended the DACA program in September 2017 saying " an overreach of presidential power." President Trump called on Congress to come up with a solution, but Congress has not acted. That's why I'm here

DACA has reduced some of the challenges that undocumented young adults must overcome to achieve economic and social incorporation. This policy opened up access to new jobs, higher earnings, driver’s licenses, health care, and banking.
