Results of our Internationalisation 2006-2015?

Achievements

  • Strong international network
  • "Vinnväxt" ten year program
  • Seen as the motor of the region when it comes to Asia
  • Companies established in our region
  • Gold label
  • Funding

The downside

  • Seen as "too international"
  • Lack of regional strategic anchoring
  • Impact and deliverance was questioned
  • External evaluation experts pointed out weakness in our international work
  • Needed to take a step back and start over

What did we do wrong?

  • Push or pull? Driving force or enabler?

  • Bet everything on one horse (country, partner, region or company)

  • Forgot to involve stakeholders

  • Ad hoc - No strategy

What will we do differently going forward?

The path forward

The path forward

  • Strong strategy for internationalisation - in alignment with our overall strategies!
  • Leverage on ongoing cooperation by partners and stakeholders
  • Define our role - is sync with how others view our role
  • Maintain and entertain strong partners and networks to have the choise of partner when needed (trusted and proven or best practice in a given area?)
  • Work in strategic international networks (based on our field of work of the nature of our organisation)

General advice...?

Everything takes more time than you think...
