This is the country that the Romans started in and began the conquering.

The Tiber River gave Rome its essentials like water and fish. It also gave them trade, even though they were located inland ships could sail down the river.

The Seven Hills

The Seven Hills is what Rome was origionly built on. They started on one and had a wall around the top. Over time they expanded untill a wall went around all of the seven hills. The hight gave them an advantage to attack any enemy that came since hight helps in a battle.

The Soil Of Ancient Rome

The soil in Ancient Rome was considered some of the best in Europe. This helped to grow food for everyone.

The Alps were a Mountain range located north of Rome and bordered France and Switzerland. The Alps would have made it hard for an enemy to get to Rome and gave Rome time to react while the opponent struggled up and down mountains.

The Apennines were a mountain range that was north east of Rome. Like the Alps they would slow the enemy down and give Rome time to get soldiers ready.

The location of Ancient Rome was great for trading. Being located in the middle of the Mediterranean it would not have taken long to get to most countries by boat and places like France was quick to get to by hoarse.

The Mediterranean was located in the middle of the empire. It would have been easy for their ships to sale and lots of good for trading was transported via the Mediterranean. The Mediterranean would have been easy to sail on when the Romans conquered other countries.

The Atlantic Ocean is extremely rough and the boats of the time would not have been capable of going through seas like the Atlantic.

The Sahara Desert is a large desert and would be hard if not impossible to cross as an enemy.

The Carpathians were a mountain range located on the northern border of the empire. They were close to the Black Sea and would have served as protection from enemy forces.

There was several mountains located along the eastern border which would have served as defense.

Controlling the Black Sea and the Mediterranean allowed the Romans to control all water trade in the area.
