- Exposed to different culture and diverse environment
- Highly structured classes and schedules
- Teachers often reponsible for student's success
- Teachers tell students what and how tostuday, what will be on the test
- Teachers will "re-teach" areas that students have trouble with

- More flexible schedules and less structured classes
- Students are responsible for their own success or failure
- It is up to each student to read and understand assigned material
- Class moves on with or without you
- Do as you're told and follow the rules
- Students who break the rules will be punished or corrected
- Students remain in school regardless of grades or behavior
University
- Act as an independent adult. Make responsible choices.
- Students who can't manage their behavior may be academically dismissed.
- Professors must fail students unable to advance to the next level; continuation is not guaranteed.
- Effort is very important hardwork alone may get you an "A"
- It is rare for a student that actually tries to fail

- Your best effort is expected. However, effort alone is not a guararntee of success.
- Students are expected to demonstrate higher levels of understanding and apply learning to a variety of new situations
- Parents or guardians make many decisions
- Teachers ask if you need help
- Teachers continually remind you of homework, test dates, etc.

- Students make more decisions related to school, social life, time, money management, etc.
- Students must monitor their own progress and seek professors as needed
- Professors must fail students unable to advance to the next level; Professors expect you to know & follow syllabus
