Y.A.G.P 2020:

Making the top 12 at Y.A.G.P

This year in February, I was lucky enough to place in the top 12 at Y.A.G.P (Youth America Grand Prix) which is a very famous and prestigious ballet competition. It opened up many opportunities for me and I got invited to a couple classes already by Y.A.G.P. I will be able to put the on my resume for auditions.

Starting home school

I started homeschooling last year because sometimes I didn't get home until 10:00 PM so I would still have to finish homework, eat, shower, and go to sleep by 11:00 PM. My schedule was way less cluttered and I had some time to do normal things like go shopping, or going to a restaurant (pre-covid).

Getting my dog (Aki)

I got Aki when I was in 2nd grade (2016). My mom's friend was moving to Seattle soon and needed a place for Aki to stay while she was moving. She let me keep her at my house and once she was moving, she let me have Aki because she was happy in Hawaii and with me. I was so happy and Aki is still with me right now and thriving.

We accidentally started a business

Accidentally starting a business

Last year, I had a ballet competition to go to but we weren't sure what we were going to do about my headpiece. We didn't want to buy anything from different countries because they would take too long to get here (the rest costume was on it's way). My aunt had worked in a lot of fashion in her lifetime so we thought we might be able to make it our selves. So, that's exactly what we did. Our headpiece was so good that other people and my teachers started asking us to make headpieces for other people.

Storms

House flooding in 2017-18

House flooding

One morning, my family came home and their was water running down the stairs and water was gathering downstairs. I still am unsure exactly what happened but a pipe broke in one of our upstairs bathrooms. We had come home soon enough that my dog was safe and while I took her outside, my grandparents were trying to get as much water out as they could. The flood damaged a lot of our house and we actually had to live somewhere else for a year but we're back and everything is good now!

2019 eyelid surgery

Having an eye/eyelid problem and surgery

Around October last year, I noticed that my right eye looked weird so I asked my mom about it and she said it looked fine but it didn't go away and a week later I still had so we went to the doctor and found out it was something along the lines of a bad eye stye (by this time I had also grown a smaller one on my left eye). This was way harder than a regular eye stye. It got so swollen that it grew to the halfway point of my eyelashes. I had tried 4 different doctors and my last doctor was specifically and eye doctor. He gave me medicine, recommendations and more but it still didn't go away so on December 13th, I had a surgery to get them removed and I have the stitches to prove it. I also still have to wash it everyday to prevent anything.

Mountains

Living in a one bedroom apartment with 5 people and a dog

This is a sequel to the story about my house flooding but I felt like it should belong in the mountains category. In 2017-18 after the flood, we weren't able to stay in our house so we stayed with my aunt for a couple days which turned into weeks because we were trying to figure out what we were going to do. We thought that repairs wouldn't take long but they did so we bought a house and lived there for a year. Staying at my aunt's apartment was terrible because we we're so crammed in there but we're ok now! :)

My Aunt Beth's campaign

Working on campaigning all summer

My Aunt is Beth Fukumoto (a former representative) and politics has been apart of my life since I was at least 2. My family campaigned and I normally just went with them but in the 2018 campaign, I was old enough to work with them. I spent my whole Summer alone at my house with my dog (because my family was working) or I was working with them. I did everything. I did sign waving, canvasing (going door to door), and went to pretty much all the events.
