VOICE-OFF DAY

voice-off?!

What does THAT mean?!

Good afternoon Lovelies :)

Today, we are VOICE OFF for the WHOLE PERIOD.

Why? Because it's good practice. If/when you meet a Deaf person, you CANNOT use your voice to communicate with them. Also, because you won't pass this class unless you can be voice-off.

IF you decide to speak AT ALL today (write down questions on a white board, do not speak to me), the WHOLE CLASS will be assigned a 1-page paper about the importance of being voice-off in class.

"I WILL ace this quiz!"

Practice

Open up your laptops and go to kahoot.it

Type in the game code to join!

Look @ the picture to guess what the sign is.

Get ready for the QUIZ!!!

Quiz your friends

Groups

Get in groups of 4-5.

Each group will have 1 double-sided whiteboard.

One person at a time will pick one vocab word to write on the board. They will show it to their group, and the rest of the group will race to sign the written word first.

Whoever signs it first gets the board and writes the next word. Keep tallies of how many times each person signs the word first on the back of the board.

Quiz each other!

National Anthem in ASL- Super Bowl

Think about this:

Things to think about

  • Why is it necessary to have an ASL interpreter at the Super Bowl?

  • Why would it be an issue if he wasn't there?

  • Why was there a camera pointed directly at him & only him?

  • Why do you think he was signing everything so BIG and DRAMATICALLY?
