Stop and Frisk

When an officer stops to "frisk" an individual, they search them, typically with their hands to be able to see if the suspect is hiding a weapon or something else (drugs) in their clothes.

Cleveland police officer arrested and frisked three suspicious behaving citizens, two of which carried hidden revolvers.

In 2011 684,000 people were stopped and searched in New York City. Most were reported to be African- American or Latino. The NYPD were accused with racial and ethnic profiling.

The End Result

With people feeling their rights were being taken away and the racial profiling, Terry Stops were discontinued. This discontinument lead to a sky rocket in crimes with 135 Homocides. The number of homicides shows a 71% jump over the 79 killings that occurred during the same period in 2015. The number of arrests went down 32%. With the arrest count plumetting many may think this is why the number of homocides and crimes increased so drastically.
