June 1966

Jimmy Page is a bass player for the Yardbirds who unfortunately break up, forcing Jimmy to find new players

January 1969

Led Zeppelin releases it's debut album, Led Zeppelin 1, peaking at the number #10 spot in the U.K. charts.

October 1969

Led Zeppelin releases their second album, Led Zeppelin 2, which makes it to the #1 spot

October 1968

Led Zeppelin performs their first concert at Surrey University in England

The Deal

Led Zeppelin receives a record deal worth $200,000 with Atlantic Records.

The deal was considered large for a new band.

November 30th, 1968

Jimmy Page recruits Robert Plant, John Bonham, and John Jones to play with him.

John Jones dubs the name Led Zeppelin, and the band keeps it.

Led Zeppelin releases its third album, Led Zeppelin 3

Led Zeppelin releases their fourth, unnamed album. The album is often referred to as the 'Rune' album, or more appropriately, 'Led Zeppelin 4'. This Album contained the song Stairway to Heaven, which is still one of the bands most popular songs to this day.

Led Zeppelin releases House of the Holy which reaches the #1 spot on U.K. the Top 100 chart

After Led Zeppelin's 5 year contract with Atlantic Records expired, the band created the Swan Song Record Company. The group's next album, Physical Graffiti would be releases under this label.

Led Zeppelin releases Physical Graffiti.

Robert plant and his wife got into a car accident in Greece. His wife nearly died and Robert suffered a broken ankle. The band had plans to go on tour but was forced to cancel due to the crash.

John Bonham dies at 32 from asphyxiation from vomit in his sleep. That day, Bonham had been drinking for most of the day and fell asleep at Jimmy Page's house. The next day he was found dead by the tour manager and John Paul Jones
