Before airplanes where made, people would drive in cars, and even before that, people would walk. Think of that walking to every destination!

The First Airplanes
Since walking and how long it took. People invented Airplanes. The Wright Brothers had invented the first airplane it was called The Wright Flyer, it was flown four times on December 17, 1903. It was flown near Kill Devil Hills, about four miles from Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. Today the plane is exhibited in the National Air And Space Museum in Washington DC.

There are many types of airplanes, some planes like the Airbus A380 has 900 seats! Most commercial planes can hold 20 people, private pilot planes have only one seat. From way back then when we had smaller more open planes, now to having planes so large that there liftoff weighs about 640 tons!

People started to ride planes, possibly because its faster to get to places or because its safer being in a plane to get to Florida than driving there. But from the very start with the first plane, it is very clear that we have changed. And we will keep making different planes and ways to get around. "I have not failed.
