William "Willy" Higanbotham was an engineer at Brookhaven National Labs. Throughout his life, William Higanbotham went to William's Colledge, then went to graduate school at Cornell to become an electronics technitian. Then, he joined the MIT radiation lab to work on cathode tube ray displays for radar systems. Soon after, he joined the Los Alamos electronics team to work on a timing system for the first atomic bomb. 5 years later, he joined Brookhaven National Labs to work on instrumentation.
Higinbotham was tasked to make an exibit to capture viewer's intrests, so he made tennis for two, which was one of the only interactive exibits in the lab.
Before William higanbotham made Tennis for two, he had some other passions. These included...
working at the MIT radiation lab to help improve radar systems,
Worked on a timiming system for atomic bombs,
and finally working at brookhaven national labs.
These are some not-so-famous quotes of William Higinbotham!
"I knew from past visitors days that people were not much interested in static exhibits," said Higinbotham, "so for that year. I came up with an idea for a hands-on display – a video tennis game."
"But if I had realized just how significant it was, I would have taken out a patent and the U.S. government would own it!" he said.
"It was simple to design," remembered Higinbotham. "Back then, analog computers were used to work out all kinds of mechanical problems. They didn't have the accuracy of digital computers, which were very crude at the time, but then you didn't need a great deal of precision to play TV games. "
Although William Higanbotham did not recive any rewards, many people know him as "that guy that made the first video game", and to some, that is huge!
this is my memorial: https://www.tinkercad.com/things/i7RekKG8Mfx-william-higanbotham-monument The reason that I put in "Thank you for inspiring hearts everywhere" is because William Higinbotham started the technology age, therefore encouraging others.
