In the Spanish Civil War, there were countries that supported nationalists and others that supported Republicans. The countries that supported the nationalists were: Germany,Italy, and Portugal and the countries that supported Republicans were: the Soviet Union, Mexico and France but also they were supported by the International Brigades.

The Nationalists were against the ideas of the Republic,they were conservatives.They had the support of the military, the Catholic church and landowners. They were well organized and they were lead by General Francisco Franco. The Nationalist won the Spanish civil war in 1939.
