Our research journey back in grade eleven rooted shallow scars and bucket of tears to us. Never did we know that even when we were doing my best to do the work, it was not enough since many of us even I received a line of seven in our report cards. In that scenario, every time we hear anything connected to research, we felt that our knees were trembling and it is painted into our faces that we were shocked about it. In August fourteenth 2019 (last year), our Practical Research II begins. Let us discuss if this journey would cause worse than what happened last year or this would be the time for ourselves to heal from the scars of yesterday.
All the contents listed are only viewed from the researcher's perspectives and ideas, there are no sources used written in these statements
In the beginning of our practical research II, each of us got our own partners but accidentally, in our second meeting in our subject, many of us are late and because of that, we were given a chance to change our partners in the room and that was the very first start that Rodelyn and I became a partners.
Our very first challenge in battling with the practical research II is to think of a topic with regards to the body language. We need to think hard for this topic that were going to discuss in the whole entire school year. We thought harder and already chose a topic but sadly, our classmate already got our topic. We were hopeless that time to think that they all got the topic but we are still thinking. At the end, we decided that posture in writing will be our partner to finish this practical research II.
To progress our understanding about the topic, we learned more on constructing the Review of Related Literature. First, we built a flowchart which contained the sequence of subtopics that will serve as guide for constructing paragraphs. We learned that using transitional phrases can help us to organize the topics smoothly.
As of our passion in doing research, we decided to finish the research design after the class in our room. However, as we revised our work, we did not notice that it was already quarter to six and the sky was almost dark. We were preparing to go home but there were teachers yelling outside the building that got our attention. We thought that there’s something happening down there but their concern is us.
They were about to get mad asking for us to get off of our classroom immediately, because they were yelling for a long time, they thought that we did not care for them. We tried to explain our side that we did not just hear them, but they were really mad that we almost received disciplinary action after.
An ornamental, star-shaped Christmas lantern was one of the requirements in fulfilling our practical research II. Each lantern will undergo to bidding and the collected profits will serve as our section’s fund for our Christmas party. This project only aimed for our happiness for our memorable Christmas party ever.
We all felt delighted when we saw our schedule for the second semester but little did we know that the vacant time in our schedule will be filled by our unfinished businesses in our subjects especially the research. Everytime our professor gives the deadline, we were just like experiencing race going to the faculty just to finish our works. We were like want-to-go-home type of students but when it comes to research, we firstly managed to do our best finish the task, first is to submit on time.
This is the day that our final paper will be collected and all of us were busy doing their best to finished the papers. As the other section enjoyed the Christmas party, we also celebrated it holding our laptops beside our printer. We were so blessed because we were the 5th of those 9 pairs who passed their paper on time. This will be our best christmas party ever not because we didn’t have that party but because we were so relieved and thankful that it really takes time to finalize each proceeding chapters.
While doing our research, we did rounds of revision aiming to produce better results to our works until it was approved. In terms of manual evaluation, we experiences difficulties on finding the person who will evaluate our work. Through that process, we encountered many rejections from various teachers that we almost felt that favoritism is the key. Yet, we can do nothing but to understood them since they were also busy.
We are all aware that every 14th of February is the Valentines’ Day but this year is quite different because instead of joining the school’s event we are all busy taking the immersion class and thinking how we would teleport to the faculty for our coffee table book drafts. It became a memorable day since this year’s valentine's day is unlike the other years like how we celebrated a normal valentines’ day.
An annual program in Batangas State University held where different competitions bear and because of that our respondents, the teachers, were all busy doing stuffs. This is also the day that we need to finish our manual which includes the distribution of questionnaires, the last thing to do in order to finish our methodology. However, we need the Lab School Principal's permission who is Mrs. Lorenjane Balan to quickly start the distribution but she was out of reach because of the ongoing program. We waited for almost 2 hours, our classmates are even on the half of the distribution of their questionnare but yes, it's all worth it.
Out of 15 respondents, more than half (53 percent) of the respondents were at ages of 22 to 45, almost half of the respondents (47 percent) were female and almost a third (27 percent) of the respondents were holders of baccalaureate degree.
The pre-test scores of the participants are ranging from 1-3 which means that they do not have enough knowledge about body language specifically in proper writing posture.
The scores of the participants are ranging from 4-9 which means that the participants has learned something new and improve their knowledge about body language specifically about proper writing posture.
T-test was used to determine the significant difference between the pre-test and post-test scores. The table above shows that there is a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test scores of the participant
Through this study, the Batangas State University - ARASOF teachers learned something about proper writing posture. This will help them to communicate more without leading misunderstandings. The teachers then can improve their proper posture as well as their teaching approach which can be helpful to the students.
Yes, it is true that it is not easy to obtain academic documents such as research paper. Yes, it is also true that our research journey before really caused shallow scars. We may be weak before but through the different journey we experienced, we became stronger enough to stand up again and face other tasks in the future. All of these things made us not only to be a better student but also a better person. We realized that it is not the scars that we should think but the things we should learn after we got this. As we took every step of our life, as we opened each pages, we grow, we will become more and it will help us to better future.
