"I'm telling these tears, Go and fall away, fall away May the last one burn in flames"

Ethos

Beyonce takes the lead and expresses her emotion of having the strenght to make change in the world. Beyonce's freedom has her feeling pain, in which she expresses it, instead of holding it in. She enpowers protesters that march for american black youth from the police brutality.

Ethos

" Tryna rain, tryna rain on the thunder Tell the storm I'm new"

Ethos

The storm and thunder respents the racial oppression that black people have been going through for centuries. Black people have been trying to make a change and fight for their rights, by marching and protests.

Pathos

"Freedom! Freedom! I can't move freedom, cut me loose! Freedom! freedom where are you? cause I need freedom too! I break chains all by myself wont let my freedom rot in hell"

Pathos

Beyonce speaks on the struggle for black women's liberation. Black women are often the forefont of civil rights, yet their needs are constantly pushed away. As Black LIves Matter was created by black women, they repeatedly get ignored. There were many black women that were killed by police and immediately covered up.

Pathos

"But mama, don't cry for me, ride for me Try for me, live for me Breathe for me, sing for me Honestly guidin' me I could be more than I gotta be

Pathos

Kendrick references to his mother, and speaks about enpowering women. He does not want his mom to worry about him, he is okay.

Logos

"Seven misleadin statements bout my persona six headlights wavin in my direction"

Logos

In Kendrick's past song he talks about police brutality and people drastically misconstrued the message behind Kendrick’s song. Many times Kendrick speaks upon the anti-police sentiment within the black community. When Kendrick says "six headlights" he is referencing to the six headlights of a police car.

Logos

"Eight blocks left, death is around the coner"

Logos

Kendrick was raised in a poverty stricken area, where a lot of killing goes on. So growing up he had to be careful, because around the wrong coner, was death.

"Freedom" takes on a big connection to Protest and Resistance. Even through the lyrics and the video does not clearly state things about proesting , Beyonce and Kendrick uses symbolism to get the point across.
