DNA Fingerprinting

General Description

DNA Fingerprinting shows the genetic makeup of a person or living things. It can be used as evidence in court to identify bodies, track down blood relatives and to look for cures to diseases. Must give a sample of a cell. Treat it with a chemical. Then dissolves in water. Cut smaller and copied. Mix into gel and add electric. Then dye it.

2 girls by the names of Dawn and Lynda were both raped and killed. Alec Jeffreys (created DNA Fingerprinting) looked over the DNA and said the same man did both kill and rape them.

They sent the whole neighborhood a letter ask for there DNA (only men). Most went and got "tested". Once the found out who it was they arrested the man and he was put in prison.
