I will be going into three subcategories for my first part of the essay. I'm writing this essay which was assigned to me for the purpose of analyzing not only my writing but writing in general. I will be focusing on the writing recording a took of myself writing Reading Response #4. To cover my past writing experiences I first started truly writing around the 1st grade and have been writing for the past nearly 13 years.
When it comes to my individual writing experiences, the way I plan out my writing is a huge factor to its success. I start out my planning period by writing down the things I need to cover and the areas I want to discuss to ensure that my writing does mesh together and rather feels separated. After I plan out what I need to write in each section I follow my plan as a guideline rather than law to ensure my writing is natural and doesn't feel like a computer wrote it.
Simply put, I'm writing this right now because I've been assigned to an assignment. However, on a deeper level I'm writing this essay and responding to my writing to further my knowledge of what writing truly is. I'm here to clarify what my writing style is to my professor. Besides writing for this assignment however I also write ideas in a journal. I want to develop small indie style games with my computer programming knowledge and journal different thoughts for games I have.
For Audiences in general I've delt with fear of what the audience thinks and that limits me. I've learned to write with the audience in mind but mainly to avoid the thought of them. This is tricky when I myself am in the audience though. With the self portrait I knew only I would watch and because of that I was much more comfortable in the video. For this essay the professor and I are both listening to how I write and it makes my writing have a feeling that it needs to sound and look better that usual. So I write my words trying to impress more than I typically write when I know I have no audience.
For formal writings like this one I tend to stick pretty strongly to my planning process. However, for ideas I write down in my journal I tend to keep my journal nearby and write down raw ideas as they happen in as much detail as I can such that none of my thoughts get muddied or lost. Along with writing thoughts in my journal I sketch out ideas that way I can spark the thoughts in my head next time I try to look back to come across them.
What is and isn't appropriate is down to what morals are in play with the writing. A mixture of my own and the morals of the audience are taken into account. For this essay I write for whats appropriate to the class. However, I also don't compromise on what I think in my essays maintaining an appropriance for myself. When it comes to a journal that I read only I can write with improper grammer, images, and so on.
For my self portrait I decided to record a video of myself writing through the camera on my laptop. When writing I was hoping to see myself and see how I focused during the writing. I know that when I do anything of consentration like when I play piano or guitar my face tends to get very serious and somtimes called scary. However, back in my highschool I'd write skits for my film class and was told I'd make many different faces as a wrote.
After reviewing the recording I realize I should've screen recorded my typing on screen aswell. However, My face clearly portrayed what I was writing. You could see clearly how I'd change faces to match the tone of what I was writing. For instance if I were writing about being confused I'd make a confused face. This showed me how much I like to get a raw true emotion of feeling into my writing that way I can have a better text to present.
As I wrote I desided what my writers identity should be because of the physical way I wrote. Showing different moods I write has been something I've done in writing scripts for a long time and I feel personally helps my writing feel more fresh. I like writing recreationally more than anything because I can freely write about whatever I want. I typically only write for myself even when I know my writing would be consumed by others just so I never forget what I feel through life
I feel I now mainly write texts about ideas I have. I used to often write texts about film projects but have recently moved away from that. I think an important part of my writing includes the fact that I also like to draw images with it which I would consider a technology of writing. I feel having an image to the side allows for a foothold of the imagination without completely binding imagination like a full picture story or comic. Besides that I type out stuff and use different font sizes and colors to help boost my writing.
When it comes to my planning period I Stand Here captures what I like to do in a sense. I described how I plan out a guide line to follow which in turn allows for me reach out and expand my writing that way its more of an interesting dive into my topic. She mentions freeing herself from the mother tongue which helps show how she can let her writing take its own shape without being hindered by "someone elses" English.
Should writers use They own English begins to show how I view what is appropriate in writing in a more extreme degree. Vershawn writes about how no ones dialect or language makes the "vulnerable to prejudice" its the attitudes of people in power. He describes how many people would discreminate black english when used in schools yet for what purpose was that english wrong. Just because black english isn't considered formal doesn't mean it isn't proper. Infact becacuse it can be understood and commmunicated its as formal as any other language.
Barbara writes how she wants to fit the normals of writing for an essay but at the same time wishes to write more comfortably. My writing and language I feel has already been changed for so long they dont very as much In some areas however.
