Misty Copeland
Crusader
- Began her ballet endeavor at 13 and won 1st place in the Music Center Spotlight Awards which gained her recognition from the American Ballet Theater (ABT)
- The ABT National Coca-Cola Scholarship was given to Misty in 2000 for their intensive summer program then joined as a member of the corps de ballet
- In 2007 she become the company’s 2nd African American female Soloist
- 1st African American Female Principal Dancer with the American Ballet Theatre in June of 2015
- She is a crusader in ballet helping to diversify the art form
