Environmental contamination caused by Katrina is another thing we should care about. 565 oil spills, service stations, pest control, all contain hazardous chemicals that were expelled into the environment by floodwaters. Contamination of soils and sediments have been created because of this. However, it was not dealt with as that would require that the city of New Orleans accept reconstruction funds to become environmental cleanup instead.

-Levees, embankements, floodwalls, and other rigid barriers, oil and gas excavation have gotten New Orleans into topographical troubles.
-All these factors are considered for the failure of the levees.
-They also accounted for the worst impacts and most deaths.
-This is how the hurricane Katrina had a disastrous impact on New Orleans.

We should also care about this levee failure because more and more levees are continuing to fail to this date. We should use the failure in Katrina to improve current methods and eradicate future disasters.
