•Helpful.

•Very helpful within the lab portion and throughout the class.

•Great instructor.

•Travis was knowledgeable on the topics he presented and subsequently presented them in a direct, organized manner.

Travis Melland

•Travis was very easy to learn from. Much like the other instructors, he made the dry material much more tolerable over the 24 hour course.

•Very down to earth and very willing to help out.

•Was obviously nervous while teach one section. Travis was new to this area in the BCA and was the cause of his nervousness I believe. Suggestion would be to just have more assertiveness/confidence, especially with a room full of cops. I am sure that will come with time. Was a very nice person with my interactions with him.

Vanessa Perez

Hermantown

•Very knowledgeable about the information she presented. Did a great job at explaining her topic of discussion.

Vanessa Perez

Take Away

Comments

• Knowing how to run the interment and how to talk about it during court. The way the class is set up you would have to try and not learn the material to not pass. Each instructor went back to the key points and by Thursday I felt like I really knew the material to be confident to run the machine and knowledgeable in court.

• Learned how to confidently operate DMT.

• The mock trails were beneficial. I believe it made more comfortable when I will have to testify.

• Testing the drinkers.

• How to run the DMT and work through the different codes.

Comments

• Basis for testimony - ability to operate confidently.

• Learning to properly operate the DMT-G. Also some trial experience from mock trial.

• Proper execution of the testing sequence, instructions to provide the subject when administering the test to ensure the best sample, information gathering and using established science and formulas to confirm or impeach a subjects story.

• The hands on training was extremely helpful!

• Feel comfortable operating the DMT and testify to the proper operation and workings of the instrument.

• Great knowledge presented by all instructors. Gave great insight regarding the DMT and other alcohol related facts.

Suggestions for Improvement

Comments

• Maybe not guilt people into drinking or allow then to bring a friend to drink for them. It felt a bit pushy for people to drink alcohol.

• I thought they did a good job at getting the information across.

• I really liked the "off site" location. It was very convenient and appreciated. Thank you for the effort of the instructors for making that happen.

• Keep the instructors you have and have them teach the class the exact same way they did with my class. They did an amazing job and shouldn't change anything on how they run the class.

• More in dept coverage of the road side steps and breath samples that lead up to getting the dmt sample.

• Combining SFST's / Fields (Training) with DMT training would be fun

• The e-charging portion of the class was the least informative and helpful. It is best reserved for

its own separate training.

• More time utilizing the lab.

Comments

• Let the student know from the start that the quiz and test are not open book.

• Condense into a 2 day course.

• Mock trial was helpful, but more time teaching about specific objections rather than spending 10 minutes hammering on someone who doesn't have the background to argue with. It was frustrating and painful to watch someone struggle against arguments rather than having someone teaching alongside and explaining the right answers to each of the arguments presented. Content was extremely redundant and bordered on wasteful. If most people need to hear the same topic5 times to learn than maybe its reasonable, but I feel the topic could be covered in less time.

• An example by an instructor of the full process with an intoxicated individual. Including instructing the intoxicated person on what needs to be done during the test
