My Cultural Identity
I am born and raised in Rhode Island to an Italian-American and Irish family. I identify as a white American, which I know gives me priviledge in most areas of my life.
As a single mother of two girls, my biggest challenge is raising daughters who do not fit into old-fashion gender stereotypes, and that is part of my reason for attending graduate school: I want them to know that education is the number one way to improving one's quality of life (in any form, not just higher education).
