  • Folded cotton handkerchief with ear loops had droplets that traveled 1.25 feet
  • Bandanna had droplets travel 3.5 feet.
  • Droplets from from the double-layered cotton mask traveled forward about 2.5 inches.

  • Off-the-shelf cone-shaped mask had droplets travel about 8 inches.

They found that a stitched, double-layered cotton mask was most effective .

The Anacortes Municipal Court Reopens Tomorrow

Anacortes Municipal Court

  • The hearings are scheduled for Thursdays starting tomorrow July 23.

  • There will be requirements limiting individuals in the court room to parties of the case only, a face mask requirements, and defendants must remain outside the building until their specific hearing time.

The Anacortes Police Department will remain closed to the public through phase 2.

Local Fiscal Impact

  • Upcoming in-depth discussion on 2021 budget priorities and whether a yearly budget may best suit the needs of the City.
  • Discussion at the July 27 Council Meeting.
  • Focusing on planning for the unknown, while maintaining focus on what is important to the community.

New Small Business Grant Opportunity

Applications are being accepted now through 5 pm July 26!

There is $750,000 in funding is available, and the maximum award amount is $25,000.

We expect the closure to be extended again.

Skagit County was able to set aside $1 million in grant funds to support small businesses impacted by COVID-19.
