Dad's Side
Mom's Side
Both sides passed during world war one we unfortunately don't know more because their stories are at a different house that we have never been to.
Born: Oct 1, 1913, Japan
Miaden name: Akiawa
After Yonekichi passed she decided to start working (this was uncommon in Japanese culture) the employees from Yonekichi’s carpenter company helped to raise the three children, she grew to be a very independent and hard worker. She continued to work and only stopped at the age of 70 in which she got very sick. She is known as the “miracle maker mom”. Her children especially my grandpa thought very highly of her and they began to be hard workers from when they were young.
Birth day: Unknown Nigata, Japan
My Great Grandpa passed from a heart attack when he 30 and my Grandpa was 7 years old. He owned a carpenter company and was a very scary man. He was a very traditional old Japanese man, he expected dinner to be ready every day when he came home and if it wasn’t he would throw a huge fit. This was normalized in Japanese culture, growing up my grandpa despised this way of life and vouched to be a lot more laid back compared to his father.
Birth date: August 8, 1906 Nagano Prefecture, Japan
Before she got married (to Takeo) she was dating a German doctor during a time where Japan shut down their country and only certain foreingers could come to do business and for that reason she wasn’t allowed to marry him. She married Takeo because of this, she would take her children to church (which wasn’t allowed in Japan) this goes to show’s Hisae’s personality of Grit.
Birthday: June 12, 1903 Ibaragi, Japan
Passed: around 1973
Takeo’s family comes from a traditional Japanese family, he is a descendant of a very famous Samurai name “Shingen Takeda.” Although Takeo passed early we know that he was a nice hard working man. This traditional Japanese outlook on life infused with Hisae’s westernized outlook on life truly affected the way Hideko (my grandma) lived her life as this infusion was not “normalized” in Japans culture.
Does not remember Marriage date but became Ukon Hideko

At his school there was a gang of bullies who didn’t approve my grandpa standing up for others. The same group of bullies grew up to become a part of the Yakuza. Years Later there was a knock on my Grandpas door, someone was standing outside telling him to come outside because the Yakuza wanted revenge. My grandpa went outside once again and stood up to all the Yakzua. This leadership and ability to stand for what’s right is something that I see in my mom.
