The Palace of Westminster is the meeting place of the parliament of the United kingdom.It is split into the House of Commons(Unterhaus) and the House of Lords (Oberhaus).The palace is close to Whitehall.It is declared a Unesco culture heritage. The oldest part is the jewel tower which was built around 1365.The Westminster was built in neo-Gothic style.Earlier the Westminster was the seat for the English kings. Because a major fire the whole Westminster destroyed in the year 1834. The most famous part is the Big Ben.

Augustus Pugin designed the tower.It is 96 meters tall and has 334 steps.On May 31st 2009 the tower was 150 years old.The clock alone weighs about five tons.The tower clock rings at every full hour.
Since September 2012, the tower has been officially called the Elizabeth Tower.Big Ben was renovated in 2017.
