The main problem is that there are a lot of unexpected guests at Greenglass House (a hotel run by the Pines) during Milo's Christmas break.
Solution
Milo makes a friend and plays with her to pass time.
Story Summary
Beginning
Milo is enjoying his Christmas break when a bunch of people show up at the hotel his family owns. He makes friends with Meddy, one of hte guests. They start to play Odd Trails (which is like D&D). Negret the blackjack (Milo) and Sirin the scholiast (Meddy) are born.
Middle
Some guests items are stolen, but luckily Negret and Sirin find them. They also find out that each of the items have some relation to Greenglass house. They return the items in present form.
End
Later, Negret finds out that Sirin is a ghost and Doc Holystone's son, Addie! Together they find out the thief of the items is Mr. Vinge, who was the first person to arrive and apparently has a gun, and stops him once and for all.

I would rate this book 8/10. It was a good book and I found myself reading it quicker than I thought I would (which is ironic, because Milo ends up doing the same thing), but I wanted to add a TON of the deatails and it took me a while to read, so set a couple of days to read this if you'd like (unless you're Davis).
