Microsoft

Before all of the happened, in 1984, Bill Gates (owner of Microsoft) said that their profit off their software was significantly higher than the ones on a liscened platform, which Apple thought was very suspicious. When Microsoft later released their 1.0 version of Windows, Apple was threatening a lawsuit because they thought that that Microsoft was stealing part of Apple's system.

Ananysis

Upon further inspection, Apple indefinitely sued Microsoft. They ended up losing the trial due to the work not being conidered to be copyrighted enough and it was fairly eligible.

Conclusion

What could have happened differently? Apple didn''t have to sue cause at the time everyone's programs would be looking very similar.

Microsoft could had also at least asked permission

Both sides are at fault, Apple kind of went overboard with blaintly accusing Microsoft, and Microsoft could have made it less similar.
