Romans 12:3-8
For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you. For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.

Some scholars believe that the gifts recorded in Romans 12 are innate in the personality that God the Creator formed in the womb. Others teach that God imparts these gifts to the members of the church later as they seek His empowerment to fulfill the mission of the church. The important point is that each member of the body should recognize that these gifts are to be used by the church to fulfill its 3 fold ministry"

Prophecy always arises out of a true seeing of current conditions. It says, "If these conditions continue, this is where they are going to lead you, and God is going to either judge you or bless you, depending upon how you address and correct the situation." George O. Wood
Involves both forth-telling—declaring the Word of God now to our heart, and it also may involve foretelling, that is, telling of the future.
The gift of service involves practical ministry to needs.
Those with the teaching gift tend to be systematic and strive for accuracy.
Another speaking gift, the gift of exhortation, is literally encouragement. It's the Greek word for "one called alongside to help."
Some members in the Body who have the unique gift of seeing and responding to needs. If you have the gift of giving, you use your resources to give, whether it's time, finances or skills.
Leadership is the ability given by the Spirit to help set a course of direction and unify people for the accomplishment of the work of the Lord.
There are often critical needs when teaching or words of any kind cannot help. So we need the gift of mercy. When a person is terminally ill, it isn't the prophet or teacher or even encourager who has the impact. It's the person who can show mercy, and real empathy that is inspired by Christ's example.
For the best results answer each statement according to who you are, not who you would like to be or think you ought to be. How true are these statements of you? What has been your experience? What do others tell you? To what degree do these statements reflect your usual tendencies?
Spiritual gifts tests can be valid if seen merely as a tool.
Any gifts analysis should be seen as a tool rather than an final confirmation. Seek God's confirmation. Always let Him have the final word. He will confirm the results through prayer, further experience in ministry areas utilizing those gifts, your effectiveness in those ministries, and possibly the perception of others who have seen you serving.
Spiritual gifts tests are not necessary to identify your gifting.
Scripture makes no reference to taking a spiritual gifts test to identify your gifting. Consequently, we must conclude that such an inventory is not necessary in order to discover the way God has gifted you.
"The gifts of the Spirit are not for mere spiritual entertainment, nor for theological speculation. The are intended for very practical everyday application in the midst of the world at large. They are to encourage, edify and equip the saints and at the same time they are to support the Church’s invasion into enemy territory on behalf of world evangelization."
