Why SAHE?

  • Exploring Career options
  • A career I felt my experiences in life and my general strengths would be useful
  • Experience working as R.A.
  • Searching for job openings
  • Finding Online SAHE option
  • Continue to work in Japan and being able to take courses
  • Fortunate to work at Hokkaido University of Education, Asahikawa for 2 years.

Major Themes

  • Appreciation in all SAHE fields
  • Analyzing through multiple frames
  • Support towards non-traditional students (Biggest theme)

  • New perspective-appreciation towards the entire student affairs jobs.
  • Finding purpose and satisfaction in the non-relational aspect of SAHE (budgeting, evaluating programs, filing paperwork)

  • Organizational Behavior in Student Affairs course
  • My initial response to an issue changed dramatically after analyzing through the Structural, Human Resource, Political, and Symbolic frames.
  • Coming to understand that a solution that is not supported well within the organization can cause more damage.

Support Towards Non-Traditional Students

Support

  • Experiencing first hand on some of the struggles non-traditional students face (study, work, life balance).
  • Realizing my previledge in undergrad as well as now.
  • How the extra support (even small support) made the difference in succeeding.

  • 2026~ (after 5 years +) Begin seeking part-time employment at university
  • 2032~ (10+ years after graduation)
  • Seek for full-time employment
