A Picture of Vladimir Lenin
In the beginning, Mr. Jones -the owner of the Manor Farm, fell asleep drunk and forgot to feed his animals. Mr. Jones would represent Tsar Nicholas II, and he is a terrible leader.
Old major, the 12-year-old boar calls all the animals to the big barn for an important meeting. Old major is highly respected on the farm. He represents Vladimir Lenin.
Just like Vladimir Lenin, Old Major started rebel-rousing and brought up the idea of a rebellion. He talked about his vision, and he taught the soon to be the national anthem of the farm to the animals.
In chapter 2 we also learn about the animals and who they are. The animals were planning the rebellion at the time and figuring out a plan on how they would get rid of Mr. Jones and his men.
Chapter 3
In the fall more and more animals learn about the rebellion by pigeons that Napoleon and Snowball sent.
Chapter 5
winter comes and Mollie starts working less and less each day. Mollie is breaking all the rules and she finally sells herself to another farm. The pigeons see her wearing a ribbon which is a rule that she has broken. She doesn’t like her life on the farm. Mollie would represent the bourgeois middle class. She runs away from the farm.
Also in this chapter, the topic of a windmill comes to mind. Snowball argues for the windmill and this would help with labor problems and Napoleon argues against the windmill and he said food production is the most important.
Chapter 6
Napoleon has a great idea to make trades with other farms even though its a commandment no animal should ever do business with each other. He also hires a solicitor named Mr. Whymper who became Napoleon’s agent.
The windmill was finished but one day in November a storm comes among the animals and destroys the windmill. Napoleon blamed the destruction on Snowball and said: “the next morning we will begin building the Windmill”.
Chapter 7
The animals The animals are suffering from starvation and Napoleon asks Mr. Whymper to tell the world how well they are doing. Also in this chapter, there was the hens rebellion and they went to the top of the barn to lay their eggs. Nine hens die trying to protest.
Squealer and Napoleon are leading the animals to all lies.
One day in spring, Napoleon calls the animals to a meeting. He forces confessions to all those who have doubted him like the hen’s last chapter. He has those animals killed with his secret dog force. He also changes the Beast of England to a new song Napoleon’s poet Minimus wrote. Minimus would represent a news writer that only praises Stalin.
Napoleon is going to do a timber trade with Mr. Fredrick. Mr. Fredrick is a really bad person.
Mr. Fredrick comes to the farm the next morning after the trade and he declares war against the animals. Mr. Fredrick comes with 14 men with all guns and they start shooting. This was by far the hardest battle but Boxer proves himself to be a powerhouse and helps a lot. The humans blow up the windmill but the humans still lose and the animals protect their grounds. The pigs celebrate by getting drunk and they broke a rule.
