August 15 1947 India gains independents from Great Britain. Yet Pakistan was also created because of the religious beliefs in the area. India was mainly Butist while Pakistan was mainly Muslim.
October 22 1947- January 5 1949 was the first Indo-Pakistan war was over the regions of Jammu and Kashmir. By the end of the conflict India 2/3s of Kashmir while Pakistan only controlled 1/3.

This was an operation held by the Indian military to capture the Sikh leader Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale in the building Harmandir Sahib complex in Amritsar, Punjab. This operation led to damage to a holy shrine as well as the effectiveness of the Indian government.
October 31 1984 the Prime mister of India Indira Gandhi was assassinated by two of her own bodyguards who was Sikhs. They gun her down and shot 30 rounds into her. Over the next few days over 8,000 Sikhs were killed in retaliation.
29th of July 1987- 24th March 1990 the sri lanka civil war broke out and the sri lanka leaders asked India to come in and help as a peace keeping force. While acting as a peace keeping force the Indian military faced Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam in a series of battles. This went on tell the Indian military was asked to leave.
December 6th 1992 the Demolition of the Babri Masjid took place by the right-wing Vishva Hindu Parishad and allied organizations. This led to the deaths of over 2000 people. This is important because Babri Masjid is considered to be a very religious site.
November 26-29 2008 was a series of touristic attacks that took place over a course of 4 days across Mumbai. The attacks was clamed by the group called Lashkar-e-Taiba which was later traced to be in Pakistan.
