HUMAN DIGESTIVE SYSTEM

ABSORPTION

ABSORPTION

Absorption is the phenomenon whereby atoms, molecules or ions pass from one phase, either liquid or gas, to another liquid or gas phase. In other words, matter is transferred from phase A (absorbate) to phase B (absorbent) in which it is dissolved or dispersed.

Bouchra

Eat more vitamins, because it will help your body absorb them and take advantage of them.

PARTS

PARTS

  • The villi lining the walls of the small intestine absorb nutrients.
  • The large intestine completes absorption and compacts waste.
  • Defecation removes waste from the body.

PROCESS

PROCESS

Absorption is an important process, as it allows digested substances inside the digestive tract to pass into the blood and lymphatic vessels and from there to all parts of the body.

CHEWING

CHEWING

One of the first parts of the digestive function is chewing. It is a process in which we grind food or food in the oral cavity.

When we introduce food into the mouth and chew it, salivary secretion is produced.

Nihad.

CHEW WELL SO AS NOT TO CHOKE, AND THUS FEEL THE FLAVOR OF THE FOOD.

THE THEETH

PARTS OF THE CHEWING

  • Incisors: those that cut food.

  • Canines: those that pierce and tear.

  • Premolars: those that grind, i.e. initiate the grinding process.

  • Molars: those that grind and chew the food, adapting to the functions of the previous ones.

DIGESTION

DIGESTION

Digestion is the biological process of transformation and chemical degradation of food into nutrients, into smaller, simpler substances that can be absorbed and incorporated into the metabolism.

FUNCTIONS/

ADVICE

We help our body in digestion the foods!

This begins the process of digestion and the formation of the food plate, transport of food, secretion of digestive juices, absorption of nutrients and excretion of faeces.

FUNCTIONS:

INSALIVATION

  • It facilitates the passage of the feeding bolus.

  • Initiates the digestion of starch molecules.

  • Destroys food bacteria.

Insalivation is the mixing of saliva with the chewed food.

(Saliva is: a watery liquid secreted by the salivary glands).

EXCRETION

EXCRETION

Excretion is a process which allows the body to expel substances that are not useful or used and may be toxic to the human body, thus maintaining the balance of homeostasis and the composition of body fluids.
