The beginning
It all started in 1903 when 655,888 italian immigrants entered the United States and two-thirds of them were men. They then created little town and people would call them "little Italies." Many criminals also lived in the little towns but then tried taking over which lead to :The Black Hand." They threatened people to give them money but many people ignored them which made them destroy there home in revenge.
Italian Bank
In 1908 a bomb blew up in front of the Italian bank. The most successful italian banker, Pati had a business at $500,000. The black hand was the one who sent the bomb as a warning that they wanted the money. People started finding out them everyone took there money leaving the bank with $100,000 left. Later during the year Pati was forced to close the bank after he hear that his family almost died in a house fire.
Giuseppe Mornello was the leader of the most powerful mafia in New York but was then arrested in 1909. The police went into his home and found piles of letters of death threats that he was sending to others.
From 1909 to 1915 all the mafia gangs started to disappear.
