The alarming number of women that do not seek help due to the negative expectation towards moms to be one hundred percent all of the time needs to be addressed.

Statistics provided by Jenna Carberg (2021) identified that there are around 900,000 women who go through postpartum depression every year in the U.S. Most of those women never seek help and endure the symptoms alone. Some women lose the battle against postpartum depression and enter into postpartum psychosis. 1 or 2 women out of a thousand commit suicide thus leaving their newborn alone.

A great way to help during postpartum depression would be to have wonderful resources such as support groups, a therapist, or family counseling.

Doctors need to step up and make new moms aware of what could happen in the postpartum stage of the birth of their baby.
