Theory

Urie Bronfenbrenner introduced the

Bioecological Theory of development

in the 1970s. The main idea is that the

environment you grew up in and the

people you grow up around affects

every aspect of your life.

The theory is found on pages 95-96 in the textbook

The Nested System

This system suggests that each of these smaller systems work together and inside the others in a childs life.

The Microsystem

The innermost, smallest and most immediate environment in a childs life. It includes parents, siblings, teachers, coaches, caregivers and friends

The relationships and interactions between two more parties involving the child. Ex: the childs parents interacting or communicating with the childs coaches.

Systems that influences and affects the child but the child does not participate in. Ex: the parents work.
