Strengths/Weaknesses

Strengths:

Differentiates nursing from other disciplines, practice - provides guidelines of care, useful administration, education, research methodologies, framework

Weaknesses:

Does not utilize the nursing process/diagnosis, negates the idea that each person engages in a unique lived experience, not accessible to the novice nurse or acute, emergent care

Strenths/Weakness

Impact of theory

Transformative approach to all levels of nursing, differs from the traditional nursing process, allows to see the patients perspective and guide them toward desired health outcomes. Nurse-patient centered co creates changing health patterns.

Impact on Nursing

Client Care Theory

A patient presenting with new onset diabetes comes into the hospital. After receiving care, the nurse learns that the client doesn’t have adequate resources pertaining to controlling their diabetes, struggles with financial stability and doesn’t live near a pharmacy.

Client Care Scenario

Metapardigm Concepts

Merapardigm

Person, their environment, health and nursing.

In this scenario the patient needs proper instruction on how to manage their diabetes. They struggle in their environment to find resources that would help them overcome the obstacles they face with diabetes, in a financial aspect and healthcare facilities. The nurse must make a proper care plan and help to arrange special care plans to guide with these needs.

Nursing Care Provided

The nurse could help the patient get enrolled in health care insurance if they didn’t have coverage previously. The nurse can educate client on diabetes and provide a pamphlet of information about the disease. The nurse could figure out whether or not a pharmacy close to them delivers medication, since most pharmacies can do at home deliveries.

Nursing care is influenced by the human-becoming theory because it explains that a person is influenced by the biological, psychological, sociological and spiritual factors of health, but the environment also plays a big factor. Nurses can provide a stimulus to acknowledge the visualization of environmental risks of occupational risks.
