The Second World War

3rd September 1939 - 2nd September 1945

How It Began

WW2 began when Germany lost WW1.They were forced to give a large sum of money to the other countries and give up quite a bit of land . Due to this , this made the people of Germany lose hope in their government and got very upset. Therefore , Hitler rose and brought together his Nazi party and promised the people of Germany they would get their money back. Even though they had signed a document to say they would not invade other countries , they started invading and in conclusion , Britain declared war on the 3rd September 1939.

World War II, also known as the Second World War, was a global war that lasted

Because the government believed that the Nazis were to bomb the larger cities first , they decided to ' empty out the cities ' by evacuating children and pregnant women . They put their plan into action in September 1939 when around 800,000 children left their homes. Most children stayed in Devon , Cornwall and wales . However, some children ,who could afford it, went to different countries such as Italy. Some people left for a few weeks but some stayed for the entire war.
