By: McKenna Doell

1200 CE

1200 CE

The Inca develops a record-keeping system called Quipa using strings and many knots tried all differently to mean different things. The Inca's only trained specific officials on how to use them. The device was very portable. Record imperial conquests and royal blood-lines. The Quipa was used to count how many people men and women, who even had kids, and who was married or who was not. They were also used to record accounts, stores. taxes, live stock, land measurements, armies, equipment, astronomy, and calendars. Quipa also sometimes included a short description by an Inca messenger called Chaski.

Why?

The significance

This is significant because the Quipa shows us how people live, how people live, how many taxes were being paid, and how much agriculture the Inca's had. It shows how long the civilization lasted and how it developed over time.

He took control of the Cuzco Valley and he founded the Machu Picchu .He controlled territory from Quito to Santiago, making Inca the largest empire ever seen in America and the largest in the world at the time. The Cuzco Valley was filled with buildings and palaces. They were covered with gold and temples were covered in gold and emerald. The temple was for the sun god Inti.

Why?

The significance

This is significant because some of the temples, buildings, and palaces are still standing today. Machu Picchu is a very popular tourist site with many buildings looking untouched.

The Inca civil war lasted for six years. 65-90% of the people were killed from diseases brought over from Europe. The war was between two brother Huascar and Atahualpa the sons of Huayna Capae who was to be the next Emperor but died. Atahualpa won the war. Atahualpa even killed historians and destroyed the Inca Quipu records. He was executed by the Spanish less than a year later. There was over 100,000 people killed from the war.

Why?

The significance

This is significant because it affected over half of the population. It took many years for their population and strength of their army back to how it was before the civil war had taken place.

1536 CE

Manco Inca rebels and gathers 200,000 warroirs to surround Cuzco. Francisco Pizarro's youngest brother gets killed. The Inca general Quizo Yupanqui wipes out 5 spanish forces. He then later attacks the Spanish coastal city Lima. The attack fails and the Inca general Quizo gets killed. Manco Inca suspends of Cuzco and abandons the Andes.

1536 CE

Why?

This is significant becasue the rebeling of Manco Inca effected 200,000 people just to kill Francisco Pizarro's youngest brother because Francisco stole Manco's wife. It also effected the 1,000 people living in the Andes.
