Stargirl being confident and positive was shocking to the students of Mica High. Stargirl wasn't normal to them. She was odd.

"One kid started a camera club. Another wore hush puppies instead of sneakers. A plain, timid girl painted her toenails kelly green. A boy showed up with purple hair." (p40-41).
"At that point the only crime stargirl could've commit is corniness." (p.48).
Analysis:
Stargirl turned into one of them. She acted like one of them. She looked like one of them. She's one of them.
This shows that people didn't find her funny. She had her own humour and her own jokes.

Finally, stargirl influenced students to be different, which made them stand out like stargirl

For further explanation, stargirl was full of joy and full of hope. She didn't have a leader. She was her own leader. She tries to live her life to the fullest.

This proves that when stargirl changed herself she also affected others. Her friends were upset.
