During the Depression, there was a call for more control, and Mussolini used this to gain more support for fascism through propaganda and hosting campaigns. He made sure that strike outs were illegal.
However, international trade and investemnts were falling and so Italy created protectionist policies. Mussolini only presented "solutions" to increase his political power, rather than to aid the affected citizens.
