African tick-bite fever.- African tick-borne fever is produced by Rickettsia africae and endemic in several countries in sub-Saharan Africa and Guadeloupe.

*Presence of one or multiple bites in extremities
*Fever
*Cutaneous exanthema

*General discomfort
It usually manifests 4 to 10 days after the bite. Complications are not common, but may include inflammation of the joints. Some people do not develop symptoms.

*Crust or inoculation grain, which is dead tissue, often black, around the site of the bite
**The scab or crust may not be present.
