Coastal Habitat

Coastal Habitat's are places where the land meets the sea. Australia is an island and has a huge coastline that has many different habitats. Coastal habitats include beaches, rock pools, estuaries and mangroves.

There are animals like stingrays, box jellyfish, and great white sharks.

Stingrays

Stingrays are cartilaginous fish that are related to sharks. There scientific name is Myliobatoidei. The stingray consist of eight families: sixgill stingray, deepwater stingray, stingarees, round rays, whiptail stingrays, river stingrays, butterfly rays, and eagle rays. Stingrays are common in coastal tropical and subtropical marine waters throughout the world. The Giant oceanic manta ray can weigh up to 3,600 lbs, the Southern stingray can weigh up to 160 lbs, the Bat ray can weigh up to 100 lbs, and the Longheaded eagle ray can weigh up to 17 lbs.

Box Jellyfish

The Box Jellyfish fishes venom is among the most deadliest in the world. There scientific name is Cubozoaa. They live up to 1 year and are 10 feet long and 10 feet wide. They weigh up to 4.4 lbs.

Great White Sharks

The great white shark is also known as the great white, white shark, or white pointer. There scientific name is Carcharodon carcharias. They weigh up to 1,500-2,400 lbs. The female grow up to15-21 ft. The male grow up to 11-13 ft.

The pig-face flower also known as ice plant, sour fig, and Hottentot fig, is a coastal plant with succuleant leaves and large daisy-like flowers. It's scientific name is Carpobrotus. The name refers to edible fruits.

The flannel flower is apart of the carrot family. It's scientific name is Actinotus helianthi. They are native to Sydney Australia.

The darwinia flowers are also known as mountain bells or simply bells. They are 1 out of 70 species of evergreen shrubs. They are epidemic to southeastern and westeastern Australia.
