Genghis Khan, also known as Temujin, was one of the most influential people in the Mongol Expansion period.
He built an army out of the members of the different tribes that he took over, to conquer as much of the rest of the world as possible.
Temujin was born in 1162, holding a blood clot. It was thought back then that a baby born holding a blood clot was destined to be a great leader.
Temujin was only 9 when his father was poisoned, and died.
His father had taken him to live with his to-be wife's family. On the way back, Temujin's father was poisoned by a rival tribe, the Tartars.
Genghis Khan got married many times over the course of his life. At the age of 16, he married his first wife. Her name was Borte. She belonged to the Konkirat tribe, and this marriage formed a bond between Borte and Genghis' tribes.
Over time, Genghis Khan took over all of the tribes on the Eurasian Steppe. As "Great Khan", he had complete power over all of them.
Once he was Great Khan, Genghis Khan continued to conquer the world. His troops, even after his death, continued to
Genghis Khan passed out during his final journey to China. He was taken back to his yurt.
Once awoken, as Genghis Khan lay upon his death bed, he passed on his legacy to his son, Ogedei. The remainder of his sons were given a portion of his empire.
This all happened on approximately the 18th of August, 1227.
