Formation of Indian National Congress

The Indian National Congress was the main leader for Indias independence from Great Britian.

First Partition of Bengal

1905 - 11

It was partitioned by Indian's Viceroy, Lord Curzon, despite strong opposition from Indian nationalist. This caused the Indian National Congress to transition from a middle-class pressure group to a nationwide movement.

Formation of the Muslim League

In its original creation it was made to safeguard Indian Muslims, but when India was partitioned in 1947 they sought out their own independent nation

Khilafat Movement

It was an attempt by Indian Muslims to pressure the British government to keep Ottoman Sultan the Caliph of Islam. The attempt failed but it did create connections.

Jallianwala Bagh Massacare

4/13/1919

British troops opened fire on a large crowd of unarmed civilians killing hundreds and wounding hundreds. This incident left a permanent scar on the relationship between Britian and India and caused Gandhi to fully commit to Indian independence.

Non-cooperation Movement

It was an unsucceful attempt to get Britian to grant India self-government. It was also Gandhi's first large-scale civil disobedience.

The Cabnit Mission was sent to India to help set up an Indian government and to settle any issues that would accour during the process or what had happened.

It was day of violence between Indian Muslims and Hindus. It was the start to the Calcutta Killings.

The Calcutta Killings were four days of riots in the city of Calcutta that thousands dead and thousands more wounded.
