Savanna Biome

Human Impact

Human impact, good or bad? Today, people are lessening the area of the land by making new sources for industrialization. But by doing that, we are decreasing the space for the native inhabitants of the savanna, so the population drops along with the land space.

What happens to the population?

The effect on the population

Since there is no more land for the producers and animals, the population drops signifigantly. It just proves that everything is related. The area of land is reduced, the population is reduced. Lions, zebras, trees, everything is reduced because you can't live in nowhere, it's just not physically possible, and if you have no home in the savanna, you don't exist anymore.

What can we do?

While we humans, as a race, are advancing, the animal populations are slowly decreasing. While we could just stop advancing, that wouldn't benefit the human race, besides, we could never do that. Instead, we could be content with advancing the areas of land we have already colonized to. By expanding non-stop, we are destroying other habitats, which is why humans are possibly the most destructive species in the world. But we could stop destroying the savanna's and leave them be.

Abiotic Factors

Abiotic Factors

They're essential, and they're needed. But what are some? And what about the different cycles in the savanna?

3 Abiotic Factors

Abiotic factors are the non-living beings in a ecosystem. 3 however, are the most essential.

3 abiotic factors

Precipitaion

Precipitation

Precipitation determines how many and what types of plants and trees grow there. Each species requires a different amount to really thrive. In turn, primary consumers come in many different breeds, and they all eat different things. Precipitaion affects all aspects of the savanna and therefore is one of the most essential components of the savanna.

Sunlight

Sunlight

Sunlight is understandably one of the most important abiotic factors. After all, everything revolves around the sun, both figurtively and literally. But plants need sunlight in order to survive. The sun warms the earth and therefore everything needs it. Not even the most winter hardy winter hardy creature can survive with no warmth whatsoever, thus making sunlight one of the most critical abiotic factors of not just the savanna, but also the world.

Climate

Climate

Climate in a nutshell is the weather. It determines what plants grow, and how much heat they need to survive. It determines when it rains, and the temperature. Climate is one of the abiotic factors that dictate life around the world, which includes the savanna.

The different cycles

Let's make this quick -

The water cycle The Nirtogen Cycle The Carbon Cycle

Ecosystem

Ecosystems

A savanna is a rolling grassland scattered with shrubs and isolated trees, which can be found between a tropical rainforest and desert biome. Not enough rain falls on a savanna to support forests. Savannas are also known as tropical grasslands. They are found in a wide band on either side of the equator on the edges of tropical rainforests. The average temperature is 70 degrees Fahrenheit.

Ecoregions

Ecoregions

There are savannas in North America. However, they are known as prairies.

Where?

Food Web

Where are the savannas?

Where are the savannas?

Food Web

The savanna food web is a complicated thing. To help, I made a quick Infogram.
