During the long expedition, Lewis assigned himself to exploring and discovering new plants and animals. He would log every new plant and animal into his notebook for future reference and study.
Clark was assigned with the main goal, to explore the west side of America. He would explore maps and take notes of the territory around him. Clark was the one who would make good relationships with indian villages, and get resources.
Sacajawea was one of the youngest and only female on the expedition. She was befriended by Lewis and Clark halfway through, she was sixteen and pregnant. She was great at communicating with other villages which helped them get resources and shelter along the way.
There are many plants and animals that were discovered on Lewis and Clark's expedition, and here are a few of them
The Prairie Dog- Lewis and Clark found the prairie dogs and named them "underground squirrels" because of there burrows and there looks, looked like a squirrel.
Pink Elephant Plants- These are plants that Lewis and Clark found while in a village, they noticed children drinking the sweet necter of these plants. They were also used for some medical purposes
York- was an African american slave who was Lewis' childhood friend and helped with hunting and sometimes nursing and caring for the injured
Sergeant Charles Floyd- was possibly a relative the Lewis. he was one of the first men to join the expedition and one of the only to die on the expedition, at the end of July he fell ill and died only leaving journals and notes behind
