The story starts off by the main character named Andres goes to a bank where in front of him there are two women talking. He gets irritated by the women, he is perceived as someone who “dislikes others and his bad temper”. After a few minutes two masked men enter the bank and threaten them. Andres made a joke which caught the robbers attention, then the robber put the pistol to his stomach. The robber asks Andres if he is “some kind of clown” and threatens him. The robber then mentions to Andres if he doesn’t stop messing around and stops laughing he will become “history” he then says the word “capiche” which made Andres laugh. The robber then shoots Andres in the head, Andres then starts thinking about his life and things that happened to him. He then passes away.
Throught the story "Bullet in the Brain" by Tobias Wolff there is many examples of the use of figurative language. Some of the figurative language are:
"Andres had nver paid much attention to that part of the bank, a pompous old building with marble floors and counters and pillars and guilt scrollwork over the tellers' cages"(pg.13). This is an example of an imagery because he is describing what other side of the bank looked like.
"Two women whose loud, conversation put him in a murderous temper"(pg.1). This is an example of an hyperpole because it the author exaggerated when he sais that Andres had "murderous temper because the two women were loud.
