Mao Zedong played a role in shaping modern China, his significance played a major role in the establishment of the people's republic of China and how they viewed things. His policies and ideas had a huge impact on the Chinese society. Many people think he was the visionary leaderwhile many others had criticized his leadership, considering his was responable of 40 to 80 million deaths which was due from stravation, persecution, prison labor, and mass executions.
Mao Zedong grew up in a village of Shaoshan in Hunan province. He is a son of a former peasent. He grew up in an evironment which education was valued only as training for keeping records and accounts. At the age of 13 he was forced to work on his familys farm. When of age he left his family to study at a higher primary school.

Mao ZeDong served as a chairman of the people's republic of China. He led the communist party from 1935 until his death, he wanted to reform the land he used violence and terror when he deemed it. He's reforms and support were less successful in the cities. During 1956 he launched the "hundered flowers campaign" he hoped for a wide range of useful ideas, expecting only mild citicism. In fear of lossing control he ruthlessly crushed any further dissent. Which left thousand of Chineses to be labled as "rightists" and thousands were imprisioned.
Mao ZeDong was responsible for many deaths of his people. To this day people of China to visit his grave and celebrate his birthday. He grouped groups of men, he fought for most of his life to maintain the power he had and the power of China's Communist party. The Great Proletarian Cultural Revoluation was designed to "shrug" off the effect from the Great Leap Forward this Cultural Revolutation had gotten rid of people who didn't agree with Mao ZeDong, His plan was simple, Mao had called it the rebellion the way to purge the elements that bucked his way of thinking. This rebellion had driven many out from their homes, beaten, and tourted or they were thrown into prison. This resulted in many to be massacred and other to commit suicide. The cultural revoluation had thrown the entire country into enocomic and social chaos, it had ended 1969 leaving 500,000 chineses almost 8 million had died.
The Great Leap and the Cultural Revolution were the remains of Mao's rules. This left millions murdered and starved to death in the name of commusim.
Mao Zedong played a major role in the establishment of the Red Army and the development. He was also responsible for many of the political initiative that had transformed for the face of China. Until Mao Zedong died he struggled between those who benefited from the cultural revolutiion and defenend it's policies.
