In this prezi, we will be telling you about cricket, the sport invented by the English... not the wireless.

Cricket was invented in the 18th century in 1884.

The best cricket team known so far is India, who is said to be an honest team and hardworking. They were the best team in the world after the 2007 world cup.

In cricket, your goal is to make more goals than the other player. First you start with 2 teams, each with 11 players. The teams take turns to bat and bowl. When one team bats, they try to score as many points and runs as possible. To do this, you must hit the ball over an oval field.

No one knows when or where cricket was invented, but there is some evidence taht strongly aims that cricket was made during Saxon or Norman times by children in the Weald, an area that consists of woodlands and clearings in Southeast England, which lies around Kent and Sussex.

ball~ A red, white or pink ball with a cork base, wrapped in twine covered with leather is hit by the bat.

bat~A wooden bat is used to hit the ball.

Stumps ~three upright wooden poles that, together with the bails, form the wicket.

Bails ~ two crosspieces made of wood, placed on top of the stumps.

To score in cricket, a striker must hit the cricket ball and run to the other end of the pitch, while his non-striking aquaintance runs to the other end of the striker. Both runners must touch the floor behind the popping crease with his bat or his body to complete a run.
