The Mayan Museum

Selena Cokley

Geography

The Mayan civilization was mainly focused in the rainforest of central Guatemala. The civilization also included sites of Palenque and Tikal.

Geographical Location

Picture

This would possibly be something that the Mayan Civilization would have made back then.

Government

Government

The Mayan Civilization had a monarchy as their type of government. This means that they would have kings or queens as their ruler instead of a president.

Economy/ Trade

Farming was the way the main way that the Mayans made currency. They traded things like salt, cotton mantels, slaves, honey, and more. The way they traded and got the things that they wanted was by using the sea/boats.

Interesting Fact

The Mayan Civilization made gigantic pyramids without the help of metal tools, wheels, or even strong animals like buffalo. Some if not all of the pyramids are still up to this day.

Interesting Fact

Pictures

The crown represents how the Mayan Civilization has a monarchy instead of a democracy.

"Pakal the Great" ruled the Mayans from July 615 until August 26, 683 A.D. He is known as the greatest king of the Mayan Civilization.

Crown

I choose this image because the Mayan traded and used salt.

The primary source of salt was found in the lagoons of the Yuctan Peninsula.

Salt

I used the pyramid picture because the Mayans made big, beautiful pyramids.

The Mayans made pyramids as royal tombs.

Inside the pyramids there were shrines were the Mayans would sacrifice things to the gods.

Pyramid

I choose this picture because the Mayan Civilization was focused in the Rainforest of Guatemala.

The reason why the pyramids of the Mayan Civilization are so impressing is because they were made in the middle of the rainforest which is quite challenging.
