Normal Fault

A normal faults usually move away from each other and slip down.

A reverse fault usually starts pushing down and going upwards

Reverse fault

A strike-slip fault slides past each other.

"P"

Waves

Seismic Waves

"P" waves stand for primary waves, they are the first wave of shaking to come. They usually aren't very long and shake pretty fast.

"S" waves stand for secondary waves, these waves are much slower but shake more violently. They usually cause the most damage in an earthquake.

The size or destruction of an earthquake can be found out using the richter scale.

Way to prepare for an earthquake

Preparation

One of the first ways you can prepare for an earthquake is making sure any cabinets or loose furniture that can potentially fall and injure someone is secured
